Mr. H (45 years old) had attempted in vitro fertilization several times at a university hospital's reproductive medicine center, but none of these attempts resulted in pregnancy. His physician explained that due to age-related declines in ovarian function and a low number of eggs, "the results are inevitable," which led him to develop concerns and doubts about "having children" and ponder what options remained for him. At that time, he was advised to consider egg donation, but since it required obtaining eggs from a medical facility in the northern region, he felt compelled to forgo the option due to the complexity of the procedures and the burden of travel.

After that, Mr. H learned that the Yasuda Reproductive Center also has an egg bank through the community of those wishing to have children, and he made an appointment for an outpatient consultation with Director Tsai. The couple began discussing their options. At first, they were filled with anxiety about whether they could truly achieve pregnancy, whether the eggs were healthy, and whether they would feel a connection to the child. However, through their meeting with Director Tsai, they decided to take a positive step forward.

"I have no regrets about not having frozen my eggs earlier. Right now, I only have hope. I believe that the 'unconditional love' of a mother will naturally reveal the answers to me."

After that, we proceeded with treatment using egg donation. However, as a result of the tests, severe asthenozoospermia and hormonal abnormalities were found in my husband’s semen, revealing new challenges. During the fertilization process, the embryologist worked carefully. Although there were many donated eggs, the number of sperm was limited, and each one needed to be selected based on its morphology and motility. This process required high concentration and skill, but we received the wonderful news that fertilization was successful and H-san achieved pregnancy.

We were particularly impressed by C. Many patients only learn about egg donation as an option after their doctor explains it to them. However, C chose this path on her own from the very beginning and clearly expressed her wishes.
